About Us

"One of the most important things we do as a Child Welfare agency is to make sure children have the chance to grow up with a family. Showcasing how each child is wonderful in his or her own way is our first step in finding a permanent resource for every Oregon child."

—Kathy Prouty, Permanency and Adoption Manager
   Oregon Department of Human Services

OARE is a professional photo and profile gallery that spotlights foster children in the state of Oregon who are waiting for adoptive homes. Our website allows us to quickly and efficiently connect in-state caseworkers with Oregon families who are seeking to adopt. We are the only adoption exchange serving exclusively the state of Oregon.

Launched in December 2010 as a new program and partnership between the Northwest Adoption Exchange (NWAE) and the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), OARE features a comprehensive bulletin photolisting of all of Oregon’s foster children who are waiting to be adopted.

OARE also provides resources, tip and tools for Oregon caseworkers and families, including a photo and profile gallery of Oregon families with completed and approved Oregon homestudies.

We invite you to get to know our staff, to explore the foster care and adoption programs of NWRA, and to read compelling adoption stories that we have gathered from the field.

In order to protect the privacy of the featured waiting children, our photolisting pages are accessible only by a private password system.
